Methodist Hospital of Chicago

Elderly In Distress Program

For the last century, Methodist Hospital of Chicago has provided comprehensive and personalized healthcare services for the elderly in the greater metropolitan area. As the elderly population has grown in number, both the scope and variety of their needs have increased dramatically. In response, we have expanded our community service mission in order to better meet the needs of those we are called upon to serve. At Methodist Hospital of Chicago we always strive to care for our patients with dignity and compassion.

Methodist Hospital offers a distinctive, caring approach to healthcare, which is uniquely tailored to serve Chicago's senior population. The Hospital is a 245-bed, nonprofit, non- sectarian institution with a staff of physicians and other supportive healthcare professionals who are among the most respected in their field. Our staff treats each patient with a level of understanding and expertise that has established Methodist Hospital as a uniquely caring institution.

Our commitment to serve the need of the elderly goes well beyond the walls of the Hospital. Over the course of many years, Methodist has built strong relationships with many government and private social services organizations. Our community outreach Elderly in Distress (EID) team has established a reputation built on quick response and has practiced crisis management for those in need of its services. The response team includes an outreach coordinator and at least one member of our nursing staff. We are able to make a qualified assessment as to a person's mental and physical condition, as well as evaluate what immediate steps need to be taken to assure the health and safety of the individual. If hospitalization is required, Methodist Hospital of Chicago is equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment.
