Financial Information

Patients with Hospitalization Insurance

Patients with hospitalization insurance are requested to assign payments to the Hospital. Information relative to all types of hospitalization insurance and policy numbers from insurance identification cards should be submitted prior to or upon admission. The Hospital will bill your insurance company directly and any services/charges not covered by insurance will become your responsibility.

Patients with Medicare Coverage

If you have Medicare, a valid Medicare card must be presented upon admission. Many of your hospital charges will be covered by this insurance plan. However, you are responsible for two types of expenses that may not be covered by Medicare or supplementary insurance:

  1. A deductible amount which is required upon admission for each benefit period, and
  2. A co-insurance amount for each day after exceeding 60 hospital days during a benefit period.

Patients with Illinois Department of Public Aid (IDPA) Coverage

If you are an IDPA recipient, a current medical card and picture ID must be presented upon admission. All services covered under this health insurance plan will be billed by the Hospital directly to the State of Illinois. However, on occasion, IDPA assesses a "spend down" amount, which is the part of the bill that remains your responsibility. Payment is required upon discharge unless special arrangements have been made with the Credit Department.

Patients without Insurance

Patients without insurance coverage are generally responsible for full payment for services rendered. Payment is required upon discharge unless special arrangements have been made with the Credit Department.

This department is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The telephone number is 773-989-1303.
