The Physical Medicine Department provides rehabilitation services in the areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy including consultation for evaluation, planning, treatment, and preventive measures to both inpatients and outpatients of all age groups with physical, functional, and cognitive dysfunction.
Services are provided under the direct care and supervision of licensed practitioners. The department also provides professional assessment in order to determine a patient's potential for rehabilitation.
The Physical Medicine Department is open Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. - 12 noon. For additional information, call 989-1314.
The Department of Respiratory Therapy is organized as a section of Cardio-Respiratory Service and is under medical supervision. Respiratory Therapy assists in the treatment and diagnosis of diseases related to Cardio-Pulmonary (heart-lung) deficiencies. The department is staffed by credentialed respiratory therapists with training and certification in the emergency life-saving technique known as "CPR" (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation). In fact, some of Methodists Hospital's respiratory therapists are even certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
The department contains a full-service Pulmonary Function Laboratory, which is open Monday through Friday (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.). All other departmental services are available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. For additional information, you may call extension 1453.
