Your diet has been specially ordered for you by your physician. Each day you will receive a menu from which to select the appropriate food for the next day. this menu will be picked up by noon. However, when you are on a special diet and/or are scheduled for tests, your meal times and diet may be altered. A dietitian may visit you to explain your diet and, upon request, may spend extra time with you to help you better understand your diet.
The hospital is not responsible for personal property such as money, jewelry, glasses, dentures, and clothing. Special procedures and medical emergencies often dictate moving a patient and such articles could be misplaced. We encourage you to send your valuables home with a family member.
If you must keep your valuables in the Hospital, please make arrangements to have them put in the Hospital safe. Security and nursing personnel will assist you with this.
Free parking is available in all Hospital parking lots on the corners of Paulina and Winnemac. These lots are open 24 hours each day and provide easy access to the Hospital. . . and to the adjacent Medical Office Pavilion.
A telephone, installed in your room, is available for incoming as well as outgoing calls. There is a nominal daily charge, which is to be paid upon your discharge, for telephone service.
Your mail is delivered to you daily except Sundays and holidays. (Mail arriving after you leave will be forwarded to your home address.)
Flowers or other gifts are delivered to you as soon as they arrive (unless you are in Intensive Care or Cardiac Care Units.)
Located at the entrance to Methodist Hospital's Medical Pavilion, the Gift Shop features greeting cards, candy, jewelry, and many other items. Revenue from the Gift Shop is used to support patient care programs.
If you wish a newspaper, please contact your nurse. Papers will be brought to you, but you should have change on hand to pay for them.
